ADA Policy

Sonder Mind and Body focuses on a wellness-based model and provides services to support the bodies, minds, and emotional well-being of everyone we are able to serve safely and within our legal guidelines.

As a health and wellness center, Sonder Mind and Body is committed to promoting social justice and supporting individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities/expressions, and religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. We encourage you to contact our admin@sondermindandbody.com if you have any questions or concerns.

Making it possible for customers with disabilities to purchase our goods and services is of the utmost importance. Our building plans and built out facilities have been inspected and approved complying with ADA requirements.

Our staff is ready and willing to provide accommodations that involve making minor adjustments in procedures or providing some extra assistance. Per our legal waivers, the customer is responsible for letting us know if he or she needs some kind of accommodation. We are not required to change their policies and procedures in any way that would cause a “fundamental alteration” in the nature of our goods or services, would undermine the safe operation of the business or would cause a “direct threat” to the health or safety of others. Staff cannot be expected to abandon their duties in order to provide assistance to a person with a disability when doing so would jeopardize the safe operation of a business.

As a rule Sonder Mind and Body are never allowed to exclude people with disabilities from services or isolated them from other customers unless it is necessary for the safe operation of our business. If legitimate safety requirements make it necessary to exclude or isolate a person with a disability, they will only be based on actual risks and not on stereotypes or generalizations about people with disabilities. All employees are taught to go above and beyond when it comes to trying to communicate with people who have disabilities.

Accessible features do not serve their purpose if they are blocked or broken—Sonder Mind and Body’s Float Room is our Guilford County Approved ADA Float Room and we have had to put an “out of order” sticker on our ADA bench to deter people who do not have a disability from using and breaking this chair. Our employees communicate that the chair does in fact work when facilitating a walk through before a person’s Floatation therapy session. Sonder Mind and Body is responsible for maintaining the accessibility of their facilities and equipment and we do this to the best of our abilities.

We welcome any and all feedback when it comes to making any parts of our building, equipment, and services more accessible.
